Sleeve Gastrectomy

Known by another name, "gastric sleeve or VSG," this surgery involves removing around 80% of the stomach, leaving behind a tube-like device called a "sleeve." By drastically lowering the stomach's capacity, this aids patients in feeling fuller sooner and eating less. Additionally, it lessens the hunger hormone ghrelin production, which may also aid in suppressing appetite. Compared to gastric bypass surgery, gastric sleeve surgery is less complicated, carries fewer risks, and can result in significant weight loss quickly.

Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y)

This procedure not only reduces the size of the stomach but also reroutes a portion of the digestive tract. A small stomach pouch is created, and the small intestine is connected to this new pouch, bypassing a large part of the stomach and the first segment of the small intestine. This limits food intake and reduces calorie absorption, leading to significant and sustained weight loss

Which option is best for me?

Both surgeries require a commitment to lifestyle changes, including diet and exercise, and regular medical follow-up. The choice between gastric sleeve and gastric bypass depends on various factors such as your BMI, health conditions, and weight loss goals. Once you have completed the online form with your details, your surgeon will advise you of their recommendation.
